Injuries have derailed the career of 2007 No. 1 pick Greg Oden, but the big man isn’t calling it quits just yet. Oden recently worked out for the Memphis Grizzlies, and the team may bring him in for a free-agent mini-camp in the next few weeks, according to Shams Charania of RealGM.
Oden didn’t play in the NBA this season, last playing for the Miami Heat last year when they went to the NBA Finals. The big man appeared in just 23 regular-season games with the Heat and played seven minutes total in the playoffs. He has played in just 105 total games since being drafted No. 1 in 2007 because of all his injury problems.
The Grizzlies would make some sense for Oden because of the presence of Mike Conley. Oden and Conley were teammates at Ohio State when the Buckets made a run to the 2007 title game before losing to Florida.
While there are plenty of doubts about Oden, it would be nice to see him back in the league.
