The Las Vegas Summer League comes to a close today, and just like that, all three NBA Summer Leagues conclude and the 11-week wait until preseason basketball begins. Although it’s an incredibly small sample size, the Summer Leagues give you an idea of how rookies might translate to the professional game.
It takes time to adjust to the speed of the players and shot-clock length. Players who lack athleticism, use their IQ and rely on their teammates often struggle in this setting, while supreme athletes may stand out. So realize it’s only Summer League, and players will adjust to the speed and athleticism in time.
That being said, it’s time to grade how the players in the top five of the 2015 NBA Draft performed relative to their expectations heading into whichever Summer League(s) they played in.
