Heat’s Gerald Green Admitted to Hospital

Miami Heat reserve guard Gerald Green has been admitted to the hospital, the team announced Wednesday. The Heat didn’t elaborate any further on Green’s condition.

Green, 29, signed with the Heat for the minimum in the offseason after he spent two years with the Phoenix Suns. The athletic swingman impressed in the preseason as the sixth man, scoring in double figures in every game and going over 20 points in three of eight contests.

Green’s hot streak continued into the regular season when he scored 19 points in a 104-94 season-opening win over the Charlotte Hornets. However, he really struggled in the next two games and didn’t play in Tuesday night’s 98-92 loss to the Atlanta Hawks due to an illness.

While we don’t want to speculate too much, one could venture a guess that the illness that kept him out of the Hawks game is why he’s in the hospital. Hopefully he recovers soon and gets back to getting buckets off the bench.

UPDATE: TMZ reports that Green was acting strangely at his condo and emergency personnel was called to the scene to bring him to the hospital.
