DeMarre Carroll to Play in Game 2 vs. Cavaliers

It’s hard to believe after watching him injure his knee in the fourth quarter of Game 1, but Atlanta Hawks forward DeMarre Carroll will give it a go in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Friday night:

Carroll crashed to the floor in a heap in the fourth quarter of the Hawks’ Game 1 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. He was in quite a lot of pain and had to be helped to the locker room.

Most people feared the worst, but the injury turned out to be not as serious as it looked. While it looked like Carroll still wasn’t going to be able to go in Game 2, he’s going to at least try.

The question is how effective Carroll will be. He’ll likely draw the LeBron James assignment once again, and James will certainly try and go after him. It’s difficult enough to defend LeBron when healthy, but doing it while hurt is an even taller task. We’ll see if Carroll is up for the challenge.

While Carroll will play, Kyrie Irving will miss Game 2 with his own knee injury.
