DeMarcus Cousins and the Sacramento Kings were hoping the star big man would only have to miss two games with an Achilles injury, but it appears Cousins will miss the Kings’ back-to-back set this weekend, according to Jason Jones of The Sacramento Bee. James Ham of CSN Bay Area confirmed the news.
Cousins suffered the injury in the second quarter against the Los Angeles Clippers on Oct. 31. The Kings lost that game, and they’ve gotten destroyed without Cousins in each of the last two games, losing by 14 to the Memphis Grizzlies and 21 to the Phoenix Suns.
Sacramento faces a daunting task this weekend without Cousins. The Kings do battle with the Houston Rockets on Friday night, and then it’s on to face the defending champion Golden State Warriors. If there’s any solace, both games are in Sacramento.
Cousins is averaging 22 points and 11 rebounds on the season in just 26 minutes per game. He’s only shooting 42 percent overall, but that’s bound to improve when he returns healthy.
