The Sacramento Kings had an injury scare when star big man DeMarcus Cousins left the Kings’ 114-109 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers with an Achilles issue. Cousins underwent an MRI, and luckily the injury is just a strain, the team announced Sunday.
Cousins is day-to-day after suffering the injury in the second quarter of the loss to Los Angeles. The Kings will surely be extremely careful with this injury, so don’t be surprised if the big man sits a game or two (or maybe even longer).
Cousins has gotten off to a stellar start this year, although his overall efficiency hasn’t been at its usual levels. The 25-year-old is averaging 22 points, 11 rebounds and 2.3 assists while shooting 42 percent overall and 40 percent from three. He made 4-of-5 threes in the first game of the year, but he went 0-of-5 over the next two games.
The Kings are 1-2 on the year, with both losses coming against the Clippers. Sacramento’s next game is against the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday.
