Sacramento Kings star big man DeMarcus Cousins plans to return to the lineup against the San Antonio Spurs on Monday, according to Yahoo! Sports’ Marc Spears.
Cousins has missed the Kings’ last three games with an Achilles injury. Sacramento lost all three of those games, including a 116-110 loss to the Houston Rockets on Friday night.
The Kings will almost certainly drop to 0-4 without Cousins this season, because they face the absurd Golden State Warriors on Saturday night. The Warriors are 6-0 and have obliterated almost everybody in their path, so it’d be a stunner to see Sacramento compete without its best player.
With Cousins out of the lineup, Kings head coach George Karl has been experimenting with different starting units. Karl first went with a big lineup featuring both Kosta Koufos and Willie Cauley Stein. Then it was Cauley-Stein at the 5 and Rudy Gay at the 4. Then it was Koufos at the 5 and Gay at the 4.
Nothing has worked out that well, and the Kings are obviously ecstatic that Cousins will be back soon.
