Darren Collison Likely Out for Season, per Report

Injured Sacramento Kings point guard Darren Collison likely won’t return this season:

Collison hasn’t played since Feb. 6 against the Dallas Mavericks, a game in which he only played 14 minutes. The 27-year-old was having a career year in Sacramento before getting hurt, averaging 16.1 points, 5.6 assists and 3.2 rebounds while shooting 47.3 percent overall and 37.3 percent from three. He was part of a Kings starting lineup that was actually quite successful this season, despite the team’s poor record.

23-year-old Ray McCallum has been starting at point guard with Collison on the shelf. Andre Miller is backing up McCallum after the veteran point guard was acquired from the Washington Wizards in a point-guard swap that involved Ramon Sessions. Miller will be 39 in March, but he wants to play next season:

The Kings are 2-1 under George Karl after an impressive 102-90 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday.
