Dante Exum Injured in Australian Friendly

Utah Jazz second-year point guard Dante Exum appeared to injure himself while playing for the Australian National Team in a friendly against Slovenia.

The injury appears to be knee or leg related. Exum was driving to the basket before coming to a jump stop. As Exum rose to get a shot off, he loses control of the ball and immediately grimaces as he falls.

Here’s a Vine of the injury:

Exum did not return to the game.

Exum wasn’t overly impressive in his rookie season, but he’s still young and quite raw. He was expected to make a bit of a leap for a young Jazz team that will enter the season with playoff aspirations. He averaged just 4.8 points and 2.4 assists in 22 minutes per game. But his length was a big advantage on the defensive end.

If Exum were to miss an extended period of time, Trey Burke would continue to see an expanded role.
