Clippers to Sign Nate Robinson, per Report

The Los Angeles Clippers will try and bolster their bench by adding Nate Robinson:

Robinson has been a free agent since being bought out in mid-January by the Boston Celtics following a trade from the Denver Nuggets. Robinson really struggled this season with the Nuggets after recovering from ACL surgery, averaging 5.8 points and 2.3 assists while shooting 34.8 percent overall and 26.1 percent from three.

The Clippers’ bench has been a problem all season, especially at the point-guard spot. Jordan Farmar was signed using the bi-annual exception in the offseason, but Farmar turned out to be a dud and he was bought out right around the time when Robinson was bought out by Boston.

Los Angeles then acquired Austin Rivers, Doc Rivers’s son, in a trade, but the younger Rivers has struggled as well. In 22 games with the Clippers, Rivers is averaging 6.6 points and 1.7 assists while shooting 38.9 percent overall and 28.9 percent from three.

Not helping matters is Jamal Crawford’s calf injury, so Los Angeles really needs some scoring punch off the bench. Robinson will reportedly be in uniform on Sunday against the Golden State Warriors:

We’ll see how much, if any, time Robinson will get on Sunday.
