Chandler Parsons Undergoes Arthroscopic Surgery

Troy Taormina/USA TODAY Sports

Dallas Mavericks small forward Chandler Parsons underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee, the team announced Friday.

The surgery was done to repair a cartilage issue in the knee. There was a fear that microfracture surgery would be needed, but it appears Parsons has avoided that worst-case scenario. The 26-year-old posted a message to Instagram after the surgery:

Thank you for all the support throughout this process. I will be back stronger and better than ever!!

Parsons initially suffered the injury in late March and tried to play on the balky knee before missing the last six games of the regular season. He returned for Game 1 of the Mavericks’ first-round playoff series against the Houston Rockets, but he aggravated the injury and didn’t play another game the rest of the series after playing 37 minutes in that first game. Dallas was eliminated in five games.

A timetable for Parsons’s recovery hasn’t been set yet.
