A recent report surfaced saying free-agent power forward Carlos Boozer was considering signing a deal in China for next season, but now Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski says the veteran big man will likely wait until the NBA season begins and then try to latch on with a team.
Boozer spent last season with the Los Angeles Lakers after being amnestied by the Chicago Bulls. The 33-year-old put up respectable averages of 11.8 points and 6.8 rebounds in 23.8 minutes per game, but his poor defense helped contribute to the Lakers’ struggles on that end of the floor.
While Boozer is a horrific defender and has declined a bit offensively, he still can provide some value as a fourth or fifth big off the bench for cheap. It’d be surprising if he wasn’t on an NBA roster at some point, and he’ll be looking to sign on with a contender.
