Arizona junior forward Brandon Ashley will declare for the 2015 NBA Draft, according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.
Ashley was a key cog for the Wildcats squad that went 34-4 and went to the Elite Eight as a No. 2 seed before falling to top-seeded Wisconsin. Despite foul trouble, the junior had a strong game against the Badgers, tallying 17 points on 5-of-8 shooting in just 21 minutes.
For the season, Ashley averaged 12.2 points and 5.2 rebounds while shooting 51.4 percent overall and 33.3 percent from three. This came after he missed the end of last season with a foot injury.
Ashley is one of several Wildcats likely heading to the draft, although he’s not nearly as highly touted as the likes of Stanley Johnson and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson. Ashley is at best a second-round pick, and DraftExpress only has him at No. 96 on their top 100 prospects list while ESPN’s Chad Ford doesn’t have him in his top 100. The forward is long and athletic, but he lacks strength and isn’t all that polished in the post.
