A. Rivers Guns Through It

Austin Rivers has spent most of this season as a punchline. And it’s been pretty funny! His dad trading for him was ridiculous, and Blake Griffin‘s impersonation of his ISO game was hilarious. And if it got a little mean-spirited after a while, if we didn’t notice his dejection as he lay on the floor after losing his dribble on a behind the back move on a critical late game possession, well, it was only because he’d done the exact same thing the game before. So you can’t blame the kid for feeling himself a little during last night’s win over the Houston Rockets:

It seems unfair that stunting this hard on the opposing teams best player doesn’t count for anything beyond pure swagger, but Rivers still had 25 in the game. The jokes aren’t going to stop completely, but this is the second “Austin Rivers game” of the postseason. It should be getting a little easier for him and his dad to laugh them off and enjoy the ride:
