Last season, a group of Today’s Fastbreak contributors got together to conduct a Franchise Player Draft, which involved picking 30 NBA players based on who’d be best to start a franchise with. The Today’s Fastbreak Franchise Player Draft is returning for 2016, but this time, it’s expanding to an entire starting five of players and is in a snake draft format.

Again, these players were, for the most part, selected based on both current play AND their long-term potential. Furthermore, current NBA contracts aren’t relevant for this exercise.

The draft is now complete. Here you can see explanations for picks 1-10, 11-2021-3031-4041-5051-6061-7071-8081-9091-100101-110111-120121-130131-140 and 141-150.

With these starting fives formed, it’s now time to vote on the rosters. Which teams are set up best for immediate success? And which ones are looking good for the long haul? Give us your feedback!

Notes: The order of the teams as they’re listed here is based on draft order, and the players are listed in order of what round they were drafted in. These selections were made over the first few weeks of September, so any injuries that occurred after weren’t taken into account.
